Medusa, one of the three Gorgons and the only one who was mortal. Because of her appearance, Medusa has the power to turn anyone who gazes upon her to stone. But originally, Medusa was a beautiful Maiden. She desecrated Athena's temple by lying there with Poseidon. Outraged, Athena turned Medusa's hair into serpents. It was said that the blood that flowed from her head carried mystical powers.
