Our intentions for creating this statue were to fully inflame the essence of fertility, life, and the natural cycles of the earthly wheel. Although the Horned God embodies the divine masculine, his energy is the vital force that brings balance to our rituals and practices. He represents the secondary aspects of the Goddess, and complements her immense influence on our lives. The Horned God can be found throughout various ancient cultures, generally depicted as a figure of power, representing wilderness, the hunt, and the cyclical aspects of life and death. He is deeply associated with the Earth and revered in many pagan traditions as the protector of all creatures and natural landscapes, especially forests. The Horned God can also be found in the dualistic nature of both light and dark, symbolized by the Holly King and the Oak King. This specific archetype is represented in both Celtic and Norse mythology, among others, and often represents the importance of creation and destruction. In our personal practice, we work with the Horned God to bring action into our lives, which in turn, overflows our “cup of motivation”. In addition, we find a sense of peace and patience within these energies, which allows us to maintain balance while working to accomplish our many goals. As we transition into the harvest season, the energies of the Horned God are particularity potent and powerful. We encourage you to take the time this season to sit and contemplate the energies of the Horned God. How can you embrace these energies in your own personal way? How can you work with and benefit from a relationship with this archetype? You may find that taking a walk through your local park or forest can be a great way to engage in this relationship. If you look closely, you can see the breath of the Horned God gently swaying the overgrown trees, whispering the secrets of the universe.
